Hey hey! I’m Kathleen—I like music. More importantly, I like good music. I also like talking. About anything. So really—there was no more natural thing for me to do but do a radio show! I’m looking forward to opening your minds and ears while getting you through uni, one indie rocker at a time. On the side of my brain? I like fashion, photography, art, food, museums, fake historical diaries, Coke Zero, men, feelings, women, squishy things [not associated with women], bloody steak, and hands. Oh, and you as well.

In my opinion, Pledari Grond stands for everything, a good independent radio has to have:  very different kinds of shows that nevertheless all share a high level of quality, great music deviating from the usual mainstream in all directions imaginable, nonconformity, and great characters as moderators.

So far my contribution to the radio takes place in the background where I try to help wherever help is needed. Nevertheless, I cannot really get the idea of starting my own show out of my head anymore. So probably you will hear more from me next semester with a lot of music you will definitely never have heard before…

Pledari Grond. This is the baby I have been waiting for for a long time. My hope is that we can improve communication between students, professors, faculty and staff on the one hand and on the other hand, that we can engage and promote revolution among ourselves, the students, and that we can foster the no-I-don´t-do-that-stupid-reading-slash-labreport but-join-that-club-get-active-or-go-partying-downtown-or-to-the-theatrecinemawerderbremenmatch-philosophy. This not only us, the radio team, but also YOU, the audience.

You don´t have to understand. But you will. Confused? Just listen to Pledari Grond and you´ll understand the world! Or not…

Ten guidelines for Pledari Grond:

1. Do not allow the radio club nor the radio itself to turn into a conformist Jacobs club.

2. The radio should be ran by and for the students of Jacobs University Bremen.

3. The radio staff should project the ideal of freedom of speech and thought, as well as help to expand students’ musical and social boundaries.

4. The radio should not be biased towards a specific political party or philosophy and should be open to all points of views.

5. The radio should not become a repetitive radio station in regards to the music played and commentaries said.

6. The music played by the radio should be explorative and should not fall into mainstream popular culture.

7. The radio staff and the radio itself should help bring together the students of Jacobs.

8. The radio staff and the radio itself should bring forth new challenging ideas to create an ambient of intellect and thought among the students.

9. The radio staff should be committed to the radio and agree to keep any irrelevant issues from propagating within the radio.

10. The radio should bring forth a humorous and enlightening era to Jacobs University Bremen.
